“I’ll see you at The Club.”
Step inside, we think you'll love it here.
Welcome,
The University Club is a private social and recreational club — and a legendary piece of local history, having played host to a “who’s who” list of Saint Paulites for more than a century. We’re known for a certain amount of refinement and our treasured traditions, but in spite of our iconic status, we’re anything but stuffy. We’ve facilitated a community in the very best sense of the word.
Over that same century, the University Club has provided the backdrop to a million smaller moments. These moments string together to make up a full and rich life. That’s why generations of Twin Citians have said, “I’ll see you at the Club.”
Our Club Members
Our members are families, retirees, CEOs, teachers, writers, physicians, artists, students, stay-at-home parents, and jugglers (we’ve seen it).
They represent a fascinating, inspiring slice of Twin Cities life, and for all of their differences, they share a common appreciation for good conversation, good food, and good times.
There's Always Something to Do at The Club
With versatile amenities and a packed calendar of events and programming for the whole family, the University Club becomes deeply integrated into the lives of its members.
Members choose the University Club for their biggest moments —weddings, anniversary parties, and corporate events — and their everyday memories.
The Summit Avenue Clubhouse
The Club’s two and a half acres of grounds include gardens and green spaces, an outdoor pool, clay tennis court and a children’s play area.
Perched Above Downtown Saint Paul
Situated high on a bluff, with a magnificent view overlooking Downtown Saint Paul and the Mississippi River Valley, the Summit Avenue Clubhouse was designed by architect Allen H. Stem, a prominent and prolific Saint Paul architect.
The impressive Summit Avenue Tudor clubhouse was constructed in 1913.
A Magnificent View
Adjacent to the Club’s lobby and Summit Room is the Terrace, originally an open-air space that was enclosed in the 1960s to allow for year-round use. The Terrace overlooks the Club's outdoor, two-tier dining deck and backyard, and through its large south-facing windows lies a panoramic view of the Mississippi River Valley.
The main member dining room, the Ramsey Room, claims the best views from the clubhouse - a spectacular, unobstructed view of the downtown Saint Paul skyline and miles of the Mississippi River Valley.
State-of-the-Art Fitness Center
The University Club’s fitness center has the same view as the Ramsey Room. It features state-of-the-art cardio and exercise equipment.
Athletics & RecreationInviting & Comfortable
The University Club's inviting and comfortable interior design is characterized by many original details. The expansive Fireside Room, adjacent to the Member Bar, is reminiscent of similar member lounges in the great early twentieth-century American and London city clubs.
The Summit Room, now used for special member events and private party rentals, was once the Club's main dining room and still features its original paneling and sculpted plaster ceiling.
Elegant Spaces
Although tenants occupy the majority of the building's second, third, and fourth floor offices and residential suites, the second floor Library and Overlook Room have been retained and are still used as elegant private meeting and dining spaces.
